MA Architects : Toronto Distillery District Tower
A design completed at Morris Adjmi Architects of a competition entry for a mixed-use development in Toronto’s historic Distillery District including a retail and office podium, a community center, and a 50 story residential tower. The Distillery District was once an important manufacturing center for Toronto, producing products ranging from consumer alcohol to industrial-grade solvents. Today it has become a cultural, retail, and arts center highly valued by the residents of Toronto. This proposal created a series of public spaces framed by a band of retail, insulating it from the nearby highway. Hovering over the podium is a 50 story residential tower designed to mimic the chimneys and industrial buildings of the adjacent site. All images copyright MA Architects .
